La Viruta

La Viruta (The dust) is a Thursday Tango practica organized by Cecilia Troncoso, Luis Solanas and Horacio Godoy at Centro Armenio, a community center in Palermo Soho, Buenos Aires from 11pm-3am, for $29.

La Viruta is the biggest milonga (practica) in Argentina. La Viruta offers lessons in rock (swing), salsa and Tango. All ages and styles of dancers, both locals and tourists, in fact everybody goes to La Viruta. La Viruta is also a place where Tango professionals go to relax and socialize after work.

At midnight the dancing is good. At 1am the dancing is better. By 2am, the dancing is great, and by 3 in the morning the dancing is some of the best in the world.

The La Viruta Venue

La Viruta is close to Villa Malcolm and Salon Canning. Dancers often wander through all three milongas to find the crowd and atmosphere they feel like dancing to.

Centro Armenio

Centro Armenio is an Armenian cultural center with a restaurant upstairs and La Viruta in the basement.

Centro Armenio is part of a popular cluster of Tango clubs in Palermo Soho that includes Centro Armenio, Villa Malcolm and Salon Canning. Dancers often wander from one place to the next during the evening.
