Argentine Tango in New Jersey, USA

Tango dancers in North Jersey do a lot of New York Tango and Tango dancers in South Jersey do a lot of Philadelphia Tango. In the middle is Princeton and New Jersey's most active Tango community. The Princeton Tango Club is oriented towards Princeton University students, but hosts an open practica and the Princeton Tango Festival. Robin Thomas, the king of New York Tango, is also the leading teacher in Princeton. Robin excels at getting young people excited about Tango. Firehouse in Maywood is the oldest milonga in New Jersey.

The top Tango artists in New Jersey (many say the entire New York region) are Tony-nominated Broadway stars Carolina Zokalski and Diego Di Falco (Forever Tango) who teach and perform worldwide. A Tango school is forming around Carolina y Diego's home base in Summit, New Jersey.

Latin Grammy winner, Raul Juarena, one of the world's bandoneón masters who travels the world playing in front of symphony orchestras and in acclaimed Tango ensembles also lives in New Jersey. Gregory Lordi is the top Tango DJ in New Jersey.

The New Jersey Tango community is relaxed and friendly. People dress casually and dance mostly in salon style. New Jersey tangueros generally go home before midnight, but otherwise they socialize, eat and drink in a way that reminds one of the social customs of going to milonga in Buenos Aires.

Dancing Tango in New Jersey requires a little driving, but the friendly atmosphere makes it worth it.
