Argentine Tango in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USAPhiladelphia hosts the Philadelphia International Tango Festival in May Philadelphia has a nice little Tango scene with a festival, some important Tango artists, and at least one milonga or practica every night of the week. The 1st Philadelphia International Tango Festival was held in May 2010. The leading school in the area is the Philadelphia Argentine Tango School led by Andres Amarilla and Meredith Klein. Andres grew up in Buenos Aires dancing the Villa Urquiza style, the elegant traditional Tango of the Buenos Aires neighborhoods. At age 17, he partnered with Geraldin Rojas who is a favorite follower of many dancers around the world. Andres also participated in the sessions that defined "Tango Nuevo" with Gustavo Naveira and Fabian Salas. So Andres and the Philadelphia Argentine Tango School can take you anywhere you want to go in the Tango. The main milonga schedule is Tango Philadelphia. |
